The Kruger National Park is known as the flagship of the South African national parks and is home to an impressive number of species:
336 trees, 49 fish, 34 amphibians, 114 reptiles, 507 birds and 147 mammals, 457 types of trees and shrubs, 1 500 smaller plants, and countless
insects - truely a wildlife sanctuary.

The park is situated in an 18,989 square kilometer area, extending 360 kilometres, North to South, and 65 kilometres
from East to West. It has nine entrance gates, and is home to the famous big five.

Accommodation and restaurants are provided by 26 rest camps which forms part of an extensive road network in one of the largest,
most unspoilt wildernesses/wildlife reserve, and at the same time, one of the most developed and accessible ecotourism destinations in the country.

The Kruger National Park is in a summer rainfall area. The summer months (October to April) are hot, while the winters are warm and mild.
Though, visitors going on night-drives will require warm clothing.

5 Things to look for in the park:

The Big Five – Rhino, Leopard, lion, Elephant and Buffalo.

The Little Five – Leopard Tortoise, Rihno Beetle, Elephant Shrew, Buffalo Weaver, Ant Lion.

Birding Big Six– Ground Hornbill, Kori Bustard, Lappet- faced Vulture, Martial Eagle, Pel’s Fishing Owl and Saddle-bill Stork.

Five Trees – Baobab, Fever Tree, Knob Thorn, Marula, Mopani.

We'll make use of early morning hours and late afternoon drives to view game.
Those hours are normally the most productive. The midday hours are used by the animals to find some shade where they can rest, and so we share in this wisdom by relaxing at the camp.
